Minimal Monthly
Hello, hello!
Spring got off to a very cold start this year but now it's time to finally switch out the daily gear in the entryway. While I was steaming the winter coats and jackets before putting them away properly, I had this weird thought:
I don't want any of this anymore.
Not the coats. Just everything. Everything that needs maintaining, insuring, weeding, cleaning, ironing, steaming, polishing, rotating. The whole darn house. As the years wear on, I'm growing more tired of having to take care of it all.
I swear if I were rich, I'd just check into a hotel and live happily ever after.
Minimalism gets sold as this one-time purge. Declutter your closet/kitchen cabinets/garage/whatever, feel lighter, boom, done.
But if you're already at least semi-organised, the real weight probably isn't any initial mess at all. It's the perpetual maintenance. Every item is a commitment. All our electronic gadgets. Jewellery. Hobby supplies. Clothing. Appliances. The stuff that accumulates damage and dust and disorder just by being there.
I'm absolutely no friend of the evil cult saying we'll eat bugs and own nothing. But maybe, at least as we get older, just maybe the real luxury isn't owning beautiful things at all, but not being enslaved to constantly having to take care of them. π€·π»ββοΈ

Here comes another roundup of randomness that caught my eye this month. Loads of interior inspo! ποΈ
Have you ever tried putting peanuts in your Coca-Cola? This thread on X breaks down the science of why this combo tastes so good. Weird, but true!
This living room spotted on Reddit is a masterclass in injecting some cheery colour into a space that has a lot going on, yet doesn't feel cluttered.
Still deep down the Reddit rabbit hole: plywood doesn't usually scream "high-end design," yet this LA remodel might totally change your mind. Proof that humble, affordable materials can yield incredible results.
One more interior: a moody Dallas loft with a pretty nifty bedroom space.
Keeping track of what needs to be cleaned or serviced around the house can feel like a full-time job. I came across this thorough home maintenance Google spreadsheet that you can easily copy and adapt for your own home. It at least takes some of the mental load out of remembering when you last changed the HVAC filter or cleaned the dryer vent.
A Belgian photographer documented every one of the 12,795 items she owns. Neurotic or dedicated? Idk, but it's very interesting either way.
This blew up on Instagram but in case you missed it, the NYT had asked six young New Yorkers how they manage without smartphones. Hereβs a peek inside their bags.
Finally, a little digital housecleaning: Forbes recently covered an FBI warning about specific apps you should delete from your phone, pronto. Consider it your sign to spend five minutes doing a quick app audit this weekend.

March 2026 Minimal Monthly Hello, hello! First off, someone wrote in last month to ask if I'm on Facebook or Instagram and I'm embarrassed to say I accidentally deleted that email before answering: no, I am not. Any maybe it's good I'm not, because that's two feeds less to deal with! Everything feels like a lot right now. Housing markets tanking, war war war, low-grade panic attacks every time I open the laptop and am confronted with the latest AI doomsday prophesies. Plus my entire condo...
February 2026 Minimal Monthly Hello, hello! My reflection looked me in the eye while I was getting a haircut the other day, and I was startled by how much older I suddenly looked. When did that happen? Where did the time go? My days feel like Groundhog Day. Same routines, same screens, same tasks on repeat. The weeks blur together. It got me thinking about the Japanese concept of ichi-go ichi-e: 'one time, one meeting,' or the idea that every moment is unique and will never come again. But...
January 2026 Minimal Monthly Hello, hello! January was supposed to be about fresh starts and diving back into organising. Instead, I spent most of it in a bit of a post-vacation slump, buried in mundane website maintenance, staring at screens while the freezing weather kept (and still keeps) me trapped indoors. Grand organising plans? Nada atm. But one thing did click this month: meal prepping! I started spending a couple of hours in the kitchen each weekend, and it's been a big win for me....
